Hello!
I hope you all are enjoying this Holiday season! I know I am loving spending it with my family. I am loving seeing the excitement on my kids faces this time of year!

As I have taken off the last few months to spend with my family, I have come to the conclusion that they need me more than I ever knew. We have turned off our TV and have spent much more time as a family and have really done some fun things together. It has made me realize how fast my kids are growing up especially my baby who is already 7 months old. I want to be able to look back and know that I did everything I could to let my kids know that I love them. So, what it boils down to is letting go of Simply Obsessed. It has been a very hard decision but one that I know is right. I need to raise my 6 kids right now and help them become all that they can be! I have LOVED every minute of owning SO and getting to know some of you. I have enjoyed being able to give you the best of the scrapbooking world through my kits for the past 1.5 years.

Simply Obsessed will be dissolved! All product will be priced at close out prices through out the next month or so depending on how fast it sells. Each week will be more discounted then the one previous but don't wait because all the good product will go quickly! Right now everything is 30% off. Think Christmas presents or future gifts with the great prices! I will try to get everything shipped out as quickly as I can. Please also note that some product might be sell out quickly and might not be in stock even though it will let you check out with it. I will just refund you the difference if that happens. I just have to say that this is the best kit ever... Heather did such a great job putting it together. I was so excited about the kit I ordered all the add-ons too. I wish that I could have each of you come to my home to see my reveal in person. The pictures just dont do the layouts/products justice. I retook the pictures so many times trying to get better ones that would show the details/colors better. I still dont know how some of you get such great pictures of your layouts. These are some of my favorite layouts that I have ever created. So here they are.....

I loved the Cambridge line because it was just PERFECT for my photos from England. Since I went to school there and visit friends a couple times a year I have a lot of photos. In this layout I used a few transparencies of London that I had in my stash. The transparency on the bottom I melted it slightly with the heat gun to give it some character. I used the packaging for the Bo-Bunny zipper embellishment to make the white tab with the date on it.

I loved these pictures of us at Buckingham Palace this Easter. I placed chipboard wings over the wings that were already printed on the paper to add dimension. I also cut out the portion under the stars so that I could layer it on top of the other pattern papers. It is hard to see but I knotted the lace on both ends.

I never use transparencies nor my alcohol inks I just dont know how to use them. I wanted to try something different so I dug them out of my stash. First I cut out the transparency then I dabbed on the alcohol inks. I then melted the transparency with the heat gun, totally melting it through in two spots. It was really hard to get a good picture of layout and I really want you to be able to see the texture. I alos used the rest of the Bo-Bunny packaging behind the transparency at the top. This turned out to be one of my all time favorite layouts.

When I first saw the PP Old School paper I was reminded of being at the University and being a sister of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Our colors were red and green so these papers were perfect. The pictures are old and pre-digital so not great quality but I still like them. I used the packaging from the add-on Old School fabric borders to mat one of the photos and

inbetween the notebook papers.

The picture of my daughter went great with kit... I loved the fall feeling! Also the buttons we got in the kit were perfect for the title NUMBER ONE KIDDO.....

Last I used the kit to make a little gift set for my neighbor... I made a card, bookmark and coffee tag.

Ok...so maybe not a "Designer"....but it is pretty close I think! My 2 Girls...Skye and Aubrie both FELL. IN. LOVE. I think I have to make another one so that I can give them both a "Juicy" handbag!

Brandi's October Kit Reveal

Although this kit is "Back to School" themed I created 3 non-school related layouts. That just proves how versatile it really is!

With a little creative layering I was able to cover up any mention of "school" on the papers allowing me to use them on a vacation page. The white "patterned paper" on this layout is actually the packaging from the Pink Paislee Canvas borders & I used a patch I purchased at the museum as my title.

Another vacation layout from the Railroad Museum. Once again I used the packaging for my white title/journaling block. I cut the letters on my die-cut machine from the red patterned paper. I thought the zipper border looked really railroad track-ish (It's a word! LOL!) so it was perfect for this page. I turned the + sign a bit and made it look like a Railroad Crossing Symbol.

The Fleur De Lis was a perfect accent for my layout about the Superbowl game played by the New Orleans Saints. And of course this event had to be documented! It was the first time in 14 years of marriage that my husband watched a football game! LOL! He said that he wanted to see what all the fuss was about! LOL!

WOW. I mean...WOW! I love this month's kit! The colors are phenomenal! I LOVE the blues in the Bo Bunny, which created my "Born to Ride" layout for this month's title challenge.....

And of course...you GOTTA love the deep hues for September "Back to school" days! Here is my son's favorite saying..."1st, 2nd, 3rd, elementary NERD!" I though it only fitting to include that as the title of this layout of him in second grade...an elementary NERD! LOL....I used this week's sketch from Creative Scrappers to create this layout....Simply Obsessed is sponsoring the prize this month...Go check it out!!!

And, with the seasons changing and the cooler weather approaching, I was compelled to scrap about the seasons...but did not wan the typical "seasons change" layout. So, I did this layout with my family photo. Winter, Summer, Spring, and Fall, A Family is still family...through it all.

And of course, the deep green and the deep red made me LONG for Christmas time, so I decided to use Heather's MAGNIFICENT flower to create my Very First Christmas card for the year! It is simple, because I did not want to detract from the beauty of that flower! Gorgeous isn't it???? It comes in your kit, too!!!!

Ok...so, I obviously am in LOVE with this kit, and could whip out a few more layouts with my left overs. I would LOVE to see what you create with your kit!!!!!

October Title Challenge

I am so excited to bring you this month's Title Challenge! I thought and thought about what I wanted to challenge you all to do...and I FINALLY figured it out!

Your challenge is to:

Use an actual Advertising Slogan as the title of your layout

Super simple, right??? YES! And here is my example..."Born to Ride"...it is the slogan that Harley Davidson Motorcycles uses to advertise their bikes. This is my Big Brother doing a super sensational job of posing on his Bike for me! LOL

I can't wait to see what advertisements you all decide to use!!! Make sure you load your layout nto the Simply Obsessed Gallery and link it to my thread in the DT DAres...and you will be entered into a RAK Drawing at the end of the month!

Karry's October Reveal!!

I know this Reveal is late, but this kit was definately worth all the waiting. The colors in these Bo Bunny and Pink Paisley papers were so warm and versatile. It was just so much fun to work with. I only had time to get three pages done, but I have enough goodies I plan on making a few more pages. Yay!!

My first page, We've Got Spirit, is the Pink Paisley School Days and Goody 2 Shoes papers. Fun! I love all the shades of green. You can scrap anything with these papers. I also used some of the Bo Bunny Brads and that cute cute zippers trip. I also used one of those cute Jillybean Soup stickers. From my stash I had to use some AC thickers and some Cosmo Cricket and Making Memory journaling stickers.

My next page was so much fun. I loved digging back into all of Justin's old school pictures. The boy is 20 years old now. He hasn't been that small in a long time. I don't know why the color is so washed out in the first picture, it sure doesn't show how warm the tones are. In this page I used both the Bo Bunny and the Pink Paisley papers. I alos used a ton of the add-on Pink Paisley rub-ons. I love them, they rub off so easily. Not scary to use at all. I am also so in love with those gorgeous Bo Bunny Brads. I want some more of them! They are just gorgeous. The pink paisley metal badges also went along great in the page.

And my last page is of my dear husband. I just love this BoBunny paper. It's so manly. The colors are gorgeous. I used Heather's gorgeous zipper flower! She made those, isn't that the cutest thing!? I used all of my Jolee Fleur de lis, my Pink Paisley flip notes, a pink paisley metal badge, the Jilly Bean Soup letter stickers, the Basic Grey letter stickers, those gorgeous add-on ribbons and 1 of the add-on Pink Paisley rub-ons. Oh! And I also use some of the Pink Paisley canvas borders. Heather had SO many great add-ons with this kit! I loved it all.

Tami aka Momawhite99!!!!!

Tami is truly a wonderful artist and such a uplifting and nice person. She has been an inspiration to many of us scrappers and it is a privilege to have her work in the gallery and to hear her thought and comments on the message board. We wanted to get to know her better so Heather asked her a ton of questions. Here is what she said:

1. Where do you live? I live in the beautiful state of Tennessee aka the Volunteer State.

2. Do you have any kids? I am a Mom to 2 boys-well 3 if you count my husband who has major confusion sometimes about how old he is-LOL! My oldest is Bo he is 13 (wish we could just stop right here at this age) and then theres my youngest Tucker he is 9-he is the sweet/demon child-LOL! No girls here in the White house-maybe someday they will give me a granddaughter.

3 Do you have any pets? I personally do no have any pets but there is a bloodhound named Elsie that lives at our house-hehehe

4.What was the last book you read? The last book I read was probably Dick and Jane-BWAA HAA HAA. I really dont read anymore no time besides if I did then that would take away from my scrappin time.

5.Do you like to cook? I love to cook, love to watch the Food Network and love trying new recipes. But the catch is with me it has to be easy stuff-I hate taking FOREVER to make something and I dont care for the mess either-dumb I know! My fave thing to cook is anything for a crowd-we love having people over and feeding them for some reason that is very rewarding to my hubs and I.

6.What's your favorite food? My fave food is Mexican-my dad used to tease me and my mom that he wasnt my father becuz I loved to eat Mexican food so much-LOL!

7.Do you have brothers and sisters? I have one younger brother.

8. Which sport do you like? Okay so this is where I am supposed to say the nice mommy thing- "I love any sport that my child participates in" WHATEVER that just stresses me out-I truly enjoy watching College Football and my fave team is the Tn Volunteers-GO VOLS!!

9.Have you ever met a famous person? Oh Gosh I have met several famous people in my life. But here's a funny one-I met the man who is the look alike for Sam Elliott(he's a major hunk in my book) Well my girlfriend and I were at a cookout and he was there-so of course we had to go and fix our hair and makeup so we could go ask him for a picture. (This was several yrs ago BTW) So we did and he kindly took a picture with us and gave us each a kiss on the cheek. We were just giddy for a couple hours until someone fessed up and told us -he was just the look alike-UGH!

10.How do you spend your free time? Well my free time is spent scrappin-I waited til my boys were older before I got started scrappin so I have TONS of stuff to scrap.

11.What super-power would you most like to have, and why? The super power that I would like to have is to fly-there are so many places here in the US I would like to visit-but I hate driving. So flying would come in REAL handy for me!

I am a huge fan of Tami's work. It is just so beautiful and fun. She uses a ton of different techniques and products. e just know that you will all be very inspired by her work!

I got to scrap

I wanted to share another LO using the September kit, but this one is done by Tami (momawhite99) I love how she cut out the number paper and did the clustering around the big flower! Her LO got picked as LOTW over on the message board. Le ave her some lovin'!

Nicole's September Reveal

Hi everyone.... I am so excited to share my first reveal with you. I loved this kit so much but then of course I really love all of the kits. My favorite things in the kit was the flower and the bingo numbers. The flower could be used in so many ways... you could use the flower flat like how came, roll the petals under or do as I did crumble the petals to give it dimension. I have been in California for the last few weeks so I had the chance to scrap some old family pictures. The first layout is titled Just Us and has a picture of my mom and siblings when we were young. I used the flower as well as some of the packaging from the butterflies and from the flower.

For my second layout I used a picture of my Grandmother and her brother that was taken in 1932.

The third project I did was a card. The digital image is from Mo's Digital Pencil and I colored it with Promarkers. I used the cute bingo numbers, made my own lollipop flowers and used another piece of the packaging from the butterflies.

Brandi's September Reveal

I am so happy to be back and what an awesome kit to start with! I love anything with distressed edges so these papers are right up my alley! And the colors of this kit can really go with a wide variety of themes.

I used a piece of Core'dinations Cardstock on this one to add a bit of texture. The butterflies matched Addyson's dress perfectly.

On this next layout I was inspired to use song lyrics as my title because of the music print flower. The chipboard letters (LOVE), twill, & dark blue cardstock are all from my stash. I really liked the heart die cut in the kit but the print on it was a bit distracting for my page so I used it as a template and cut my own. I can now use the original on something else.

I created the music print paper by tea-dying (with coffee...so I guess technically I "coffee-dyed" it! LOL!) a piece of cardstock. Once it was dry I ironed it flat and stamped the music onto it. Add a little ink around the edges and you have a nice vintage looking piece. (And it smells good too! LOL!)

The flower was a bit big so I took the back layer off and will use it on something else later.

I collect vintage cameras (Aren't they the coolest?!?) and the die cut/journal spot in the kit couldn't have been more perfect for this page! I cut it apart so that it would fit in with my collage better. The houndstooth print just screamed "vintage" to me. The small letter/number stickers are from my stash. This is actually just the left side of a 2 pager--still working on the other half.

This next piece is just a fun little wall-hanging I came up with. The images & butterfly are from the kit and the rest is just bits & pieces I had lying around. I cut the crown from the MME die-cut sheet & adhered just the edges to make it 3-dimensional. I added Stickles to both the crown & the butterfly (The butterfly immediately curled under when I applied the Stickles so proceed with caution.)

As you can see this kit is very versatile and can be used for most anything. I hope to be back in a day or so with a few more layouts--I have 3 started!

Misty's September Reveal

I know this is WAY late today, and I am so sorry! I knew I was going to be a little late, but unfortunately, some stinkin' tropical depression came right in on top of us ALL DAY LONG, and had my internet service knocked out.

SO, I am now finally able to upload ...and Thank goodness, because it looks like a dreary week for us down here in Texas...too many tropical storms around us!!!

For this first one, I love me some fussy cuts...so that is what I did. I used those gorgeous butterflies, beautiful bloom and the super cute star pins to enhance this photo of my 5 year old winning the affection of her brother! Once Skye noticed that her big brother was giving some other girl attention, she went over and laid her head in his lap and said, "I want you to hold me, Bubba." I think that is a sneaky little girl! LOL

For this one, I focused on the number sheet...it just totally made me think football for some reason! I love that it showcased these pics of my son playing football last year just perfectly! Yes, that is one of my own ticket stubs from one of the games last year.

This one is focusing on the super cute Bingo tiles. I totally cheated by making my own bingo card, and I will tell you how to do it....
All I did, was google "Bingo Card" and it pulled up several different pictures of bingo cards, I picked one, printed, and viola!!!

Thia is an AWESOME kit, and obviously not limited to just one or 2 topics! I LOVE the versatility, and the colors are fantastic!!!!!

Karry's September Kit Reveal!

Oh, you are going to love this kit!! Heather has found some gorgeous little goodies to go with the Glitz Kismet paper. In my first page I have used those gorgeous velum butterflies, the fun little journaling cards and tags, one of the add-on rub-ons and some of the gorgeous buttons.

This second page is another page just full of kit goodies! Isn't that flower just gorgeous? I love the Bingo pieces and brads too. The coredinations cardstock is one of this months ad-ons. Wow! I hadn't ever used them before! I'm afraid I'm addicted now. The colors where perfect and the pattern could have just been made for this kit.

This is Taylor's end of school program pictures from last year. She loved being on stage! She just grinned so big she glowed. I love seeing her have so much fun!

My picture doesn't do those gorgeous brads and buttons justice. They are beautiful, but I just couldn't get them to photograph well at all. I also used the other coredination add-on cardstock. I just love this cardstock! I did add the MME ticket from the July kit to the page. Your going to love this kit. I hope you have as much fun with it as I have had!!

September Color Challenge!

Today, with the temperature at a mere 98 degrees, I am feeling the beginning effects of fall with lower temps in the morning, cooler mid days (98 IS cooler here in Texas!) and the start of school...it only means that autumn activities like football and fall festivals are just around the corner. I am so excited...aren't you!!??
I thought that using rich, deep hues will surely set us into a fall frenzy...so I decided to make this month's colors a tribute to the Artistic Beauty that is Autumn. Our colors will be:

August Layout Challenge

Although August marks the middle of the year, it also marks the Beginning for a lot of things. August is the beginning of school for some, it could be the beginning of a life for a new baby, the beginning of a marriage...there are all sorts of things that August marks the beginning of.
This month, your challenge is to create a layout in recognition of a Beginning. I want the word BEGIN in your title, or some form of the word...(begins, beginning, began...etc.)

I chose to document the beginning of my insanity. Yes...You heard me right...I am now officially going insane. This layout is of my oldest son...with his girlfriend. AAAHHHHH! How is that even possible!!??? Just "yesterday" he was playing with Tonka trucks...today he is playing with a girl!!!

LOL...so there you have it...the beginning of his first "relationship" which marks the beginning of my insanity!

All entries will be entered into a drawing for a RAK at the end of the month...so make sure you load your layout into the SO gallery and link it her if you would like! Have fun and Good luck!!

August Make-and-Take Challenge!

I hope you are enjoying your last few weeks of summer! Take some time off work and get a little extra scrapping done why don't you. ;-) The challenges the girls have posted so far look like so much fun! I hope you're inspired by this challenge too. Our make-and-take this month is a picture frame! It was so simple, but Wow! did it transform this plain picture frame.

It started out as a plain plastic frame from the Dollar Store.

I had to tear the frame apart, which wasn't hard at all. Cheap frames are great for altering. I added a little modge podge to the frame and pieced together the frame with some pp scraps. That's all I had left, but I really wanted to use my Queen Bee kit. I had nothing left big enough to cover the whole frame so I made a collage of pretty papers. I love the way it turned out, even better than if I had used just one sheet of paper.

For the inside frame I traced it onto cardstock. Cut it and then covered my CS frame with pps. Covered the plactic with modge podge. Then once I got the pp frame perfectly lined up on the plastic frame, I covered the top of the pps with modge podge too. I love the way the modge podge gives projects that shiny finished look. It adds some durability too.

Then I snapped it all back into place and threw on some hand made flowers and paper ribbons. I had some say it with pearls accents left over from my kit as well, and they where the perfect touch for my frame! I also used, from last months kit, the last few pieces of Maya Road banner. I love those. I hate that they are all gone now. I want some more! :D

Sarah's August Color Challenge

It may be August, but summer's not over yet! It's going to be 92 degrees here today so I am absolutely positive we are still in summer. I love fall and it's my favorite season, but I am not ready for summer to end. So to keep in the summer mood I created this summery layout using the brand new Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker line Blueberry Hill. I love the colors and fun flowers in this line.

So my color challenge this month is to use the colors BLUE and YELLOW. Upload your projects in the DT DARES section of the forum and I can't wait to see your blue and yellow layouts.

Karry's Queen Bee Reveal

Let me tell you how fun this kit was! I had so many pictures that I could have gone with it. I loved it.
This was the last page I did. My oldest daughter in a photo shoot we did not too long ago. I can't believe how grown up she is getting. :-( She will be getting her learners permit next week. Yuck! This page was so fun, those Prima pearls...they are so gorgeous. Perfect and glamorous. I also used the PP clear border stickers. It wasn't until this LO that I realized the treasure in them. As a whole strip I was scared to death of them, but I cut parts of them out and they make for some cute cute accents. The only thing from my stash are the pearls and the buttons.

This is my Chloe. The picture is from Easter, it was just a lucky shot. She didn't know the camera was on her. (or she would have had her cheesy fake grin on. lol ) She was just walking next to a tree looking for Easter eggs and just in time I called her name and snapped her picture. It turned out so pretty I made all the kids pose there. lol

I love the way this page turned out. Rolling all those papers kind of took forever....but it was worth it I think. I used the add on cutouts on this page. Those journaling cards are all just beautiful. The only thing from my stash are the October Afternoon letter stickers and of course a button. The title I cut with my Cricut, the font is called Not His Angel.

These worms may be pretty, but they are absolutely gross. When you pluck them off the tree they squish this yellow goo on you. A yellow goo that stains. I don't know if you can see my husband's hand in the close up shot. Thank goodness I had my camera and a perfect excuse to not touch them. Ewww! lol Taylor was in heaven though, she loves all things buggy.

I used both of the add-ons on this page. Those gorgeous pleated ribbons and the journaling cards. Don't laugh, but I also used the packaging for the Prima flowers. It was just too pretty to throw away. I used the OA letter stickers again from my stash...but that was all, no buttons this time. lol

My daughter waits until 15 minutes before we were supposed to leave for her BFF's party and she goes snooping in my cabinet looking for a card! Yikes! My kit was laying out so I whipped her up a quick card. I love the colors. The Sprout CS really makes the pale blue flowers pop. I love those pps together! Of course I had to add a button from my stash. It's just not finished if it doesn't have a button on it. lol

The Queen Has Spoken... Jenny's August Kit Reveal

When the big brown truck pulled up to my house and the nice driver slipped that gear into park, I went runnin for the door. I just knew what to expect... my August Queen Bee kit and a big old pile of goodies from the SO store, as well. I love this kit. I love that it is just soo pretty and unexpected. It's not at all a typical color palette. The yellow and grey are just gorgeous and that punch of teal just puts it over the top. I made 2 pages and a card with my goodies. There is still a TON of kit left. The first page includes a photo of my younger daughter playing dress up. I used a piece of diecut Bazzill (from the store)and a MME paper as the base. I fussy cut one of the PP papers. Gotta love those flowers. When I glued them down I only did here and there. I like the movement the unattached edges provide. Beneath the photo I layered a diecut and one of those darling clears.

Next to the photo I layered a diecut with a punched scallop circle (on a popdot), a cork piece (flipped over), and a button with some bakers twine. Love all the dimension here. You can also see here that I distressed the black alpha so that it remains visible on the black cardstock. I think the distressing really works well with these papers.

Here where that unexpected comment comes in. I used photos of my DS on the football field for this next one. Lots of cutting and layering with a bit of stitching thrown in here. Isn't he a little hunk?!?

Next up, a sweet little card to welcome my hubby home from Afganistan TODAY!! Off to watch my hubby fly in on his E-2C Hawkeye and see my children run out on the flightline into his arms. Sure hope this waterproof mascara holds up!

Misty's "Queen Bee" Reveal!!

Oh My Goodness. The August Queen Bee kit is ABSOLUTELY magnificent! It is the QUEEN of Kits...I kid you not!!! I have not wanted to stop working with this kit from the moment that I opened it up!!! I will share a couple of my creations with you today...but only a couple...LOL...the rest will have to wait. =)

Here is "Hope". I caught Skye, my 4 year old picking the flowers off of my crape myrtle trees one day...and I ADORE the way the photos turned out. Here is one where she was actually picking the flower, saying..."It is a Miracle, Mommy! The leaves turned pink!" LOL..She was all amazed at how the leaves had turned pink instead of being green. I explained to her that it was the flowers...but I think I liked her explanation better. ;) Everything s from the kit...the pink flowers are punches that I sprayed with Tattered Angels Candy Appl Red mist.

Here is "My Eyes"...and yes...those are my eyes! I made each frame a slightly different color, and inked all the edges with turquoise StaZon. I wrapped a straw with the "Bees Wax" paper and cut out the little images to make the ends of the rods. All of the flowers are fussy cuts.

And here is just a little "Hello" card. I have a matching project in the works for it...but it is not quite finished. =)

Hello Queen Bee!!!

Have you seen the August kit yet???? This kit is gorgeous!!! I can't believe how beautiful the yellows, teals and grays look together. And don't forget about all the embellishments. Wow!! I created two layouts and a card and still have tons left over.

For my first layout I chose this picture my husband snapped of Frances and myself at the riverwalk on Saturday afternoon. I didn't even know he took the picture and when I was looking through the photos later than day this one made me a little teary eyed. She is growing so fast and it is sad knowing I won't be able to hold her like this forever. I punched holes in the cork to make a button and put some twine through and used the diecuts from the add-ons for my journaling. Then I cut up the Prima Pearls so I would have enough for my next layout.

For my second layout I choose this photo of Frances running through the grass. I snapped this while she was running away from me and then edited it in photoshop. I layered lots of the patterned paper and made more buttons out of the cork circles. Then I added the rest of the prima pearls, some of the diecuts from the addons and some stitching.

And for my last project I created this card from one of the diecuts.

There's a few kits left in the Simply Obsessed store and you definitely don't want to miss this one!!

The colors in this kit are to die for!! I kid you not!! They are absolutely beautiful! If you haven't purchased a kit yet, I think you need to hop on over to the store and take care of that!
Here is what I came up with:
Up first is a layout I absolutely adore. It is a photo of my daughter and I. The journaling talks about how God has blessed me with the privilege of raising such a wonderful girl! She is definitely "The Queen of my Heart"

I used a sketch by Frances Sylvia for this one because well- I liked it! I wanted to showcase the cute little silver crown that came in the kit so I gave it a special place accenting my title. The cute flower is nothing more than one of the punch-0ut journaling tags that I added some adhesive to the back and went around it with the ribbon pleats. Finally, I layered three cork buttons on top and there you have it!

Up next is a layout about my son, Kyle. On vacation I was sitting on the beach watching him in the surf. I noticed how much of a man he has grown into. I grabbed the camera and snapped some photos (not something he stops for often!). The journaling talks about how fast he has grown and how it just hit me here on the beach that he is now a man. I am one proud mamma---
"Because"

This is a very straightforward layout with lots of layering--papers, journaling tags, ribbon pleats. The journaling tag is the packaging from the Prima pearls in the kit. It was just the size I was needing. I decided to use the bling frame to call attention to the photo where he faces forward.

Okay, you know me, I love the vintage feel of this one! I wasn't sure about the Yukon Gold cardstock, but it was the crowning touch here. The photo was taken on vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida in June. There were nine of us on the trip (the one missing is our photographer, Kyle). The journaling discusses the number present and how I dearly missed my husband and other two sons who didn't make the trip with us. We always do vacation my my brother-in-law and his family and it just wasn't the same with half of mine missing.
So here is "9"

The one thing in this layout to talk about are those nice big flowers. Boy did they give me a hard time! I used the clear border strips and the creamy yellow side of one of the Queen Bee papers to make strips to fan-fold. Because the border strips are kind of plasticy it was a battle. But I did get it done with lots of glue dots!!

Lastly, is this layout---I am going to be honest---I just don't like! But, I am going to share it anyway (I thought about just keeping it to myself!!) However, even if the photos are not great they capture my third son who is having MAJOR high school growing pains enjoying himself while acting silly! I so rarely see this happy side of him anymore. It makes me so sad to know how unhappy he seems most of the time. So, these rare moments are so special.
Here is "A Glimpse"

Let me explain THE OUTFIT! He was going to ride the four-wheeler and it was cold. After I shot these he even put a pair of jeans over the warm-ups. We just don't have clothes for really cold weather here in tropical South Louisiana! Here I made a few little flowers from the left over ribbon pleats, layered up some of the items from the kit here and there. Oh yes, the cute little fleur de lis at the top right was cut from the border strips. Even If it isn't my favorite, it holds some special meaning!

Okay, not only do I have these four layouts, I also have layout I used for my Sketch Challenge that will go up August 1. i LOVE it too! Then, there is a card I will share later! AND I still have enough to do a few more cards and could probably squeeze out another layout! This kit just keeps giving! One more bit of advise, the bittersweet and yukon gold cardstock are a must have! They can be purchased as an add-on. Yes, these are my kiddos. I couldn't get them to just smile pretty for the camera! lol! So these are the pics I ended up with. These are the memories they get to look back on one day! lol! Can't wait to see what you do!! :)

July Make and Take

Today I am going to show you how to make an awesome flower from an old knit shirt. Cheap and super cute!
Supplies:
An old tshirt or knit shirt
scissors
thread
needle
cardstock circle ( I used a jillibean journal spot)
glue gun
embellishments of your choice
(Please excuse the quality of the indoor pics. )
First cut a strip from your t-shirt. Mine is 15 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide.

Next, use a running stitch up the enter of the strip of fabric.

Fold the fabric in half at the stitching.

Carefully pull your thread to create gathers. You want your fabric strip to be about 9 inches long when you finish gathering.

Now you need your circle and glue. Put a nice size dot right in the center of your circle.

Beging rolling the strip from the center out. Keep it folded in half and roll it tightly. add glue close to the fabric as you go.

When you are done rolling, add a dot of glue and tuck under the edge of the strip.

Now, pull apart and play with the strip until you get a pleasing shape.

Here is the finished flower. The one attached to my pin cushion is a bit smaller and embellished with a button, twisted burlap, and a few leaf stick pins. These were taken outside so you could get a better idea of the color. Much better!!

And here is my take on the sketch- My little munchkin fooling around as usual. I swear she will not sit still for photos anymore! I thought these were funny pics though so I had to scrap 'em!

A Layout Challenge for July

Can I get a Holla!?! It's the first day of July!! Can I get a Holla?!? You know what that means, right? Other than my hubby coming home from Afganistan later this month, that ALSO means it's time for a challenge, or two. My challenge for you this month is to create a LAYOUT incorporating a:

SPORTS PHOTO + A LESSON. Here's my example. My son enjoying a high five with his daddy during his first season playing football and a friendly reminder (lesson) from Momma to always remember his love of the game.

It's July 1st! (Already? Can you believe it?) You know what that means, don't you? New Challenges!! I hope you enjoy my challenge for you this month!

One of my favorite things about summer is camping! One of our favorite camping spots is at Tugaloo State Park right here in Lavonia, Georgia. We have this camping spot that is way out on this little point. When we stay there we are blessed with both the most gorgeous sunsets AND sunrises.

Jenny's Hello Sunshine Reveal

Oh my goodness, I know the other girls have said this already, but July's Simply Obsessed kit is fantabulous!!!! The colors are absolute perfection for summer. I just worship that teeny tiny little Maya Road banner Heather included. I made a super cute little banner to use on my personal blog. I broke out the paints on the larger banner triangles and on the tiny stars and hearts. I even added a little Martha Stewart snow glitter before they dried. To finish it up I covered the smaller triangles with the Lily Bee paper and punched circles and yummy YELLOW Thickers from the kit. Like sooo...

This next one is my favorite. It doesn't hurt that my hubby (who is deployed) is center stage, but I just love how easily this page came together. I didn't realize until I was finished that the photos with the handcut paper beneath sort of form a heart. Do you see it?

The red So Sophie paper kind of dictated this next one. Isn't that paper great?!?

Had fun cutting up the Lily Bee's rub-ons for this next one. I cut the yellow sun rub-on from the larger words rub-on. Next, I cut a large circle out of the blue cardstock and layered a photo of Sophia behind it and the words around the opening. And from there, I just went a little circle crazy.

Life with you...

How can you say no to that face? *rofl* It's Chloe during one of her regular drama queen moments. When I showed her the picture, she tried so hard not to smile. You know that look. lol This page is all kit goodies exept for the Kraft CS, the red Target $ spot letter stickers and some buttons from my stash. I am in love with those Niki Riki thickers! I want them in all colors now. So much fun and they are just the perfect size.

Redneck Princess:

Yes, that IS mud on Chloe's face. We had rain for a solid week last month, so my husband had lots of fun mud holes to drive the 4 wheeler through. They had SO much fun and got SO dirty! They had to wash off with the garden hose before they came near the house. Chloe said being a redneck sure was fun.

This is all kit goodies except for the buttons. I can never have enough buttons! lol Even the little black scallops are from the kit....they came from the rub-on packaging! They were just too cute to throw away.

This page is all kit goodies, right down to the CS. I just love the banner that came with the kit, you could do so much with it! I slapped a little paint on them, covered the tops with pretty paper and stacked them. I loved the dimention it added. This may have been the second or third time I have EVER used a rub on! I couldn't believe it was so easy. The big one, I was just too chicken to put it right on the page. So I put it on white cardstock then cut it out. I believe it would have done just fine to put it right on the page, but I just wasn't confident enough. lol

OMGoodness! I fell in love from the moment that Heather posted the little sneaks of what to expect in the upcoming kits. My mouth began to water the moment I opened my box that contained my kit, and I got all giddy as I began cutting paper. Everything about this July kit is amazing! The colors, the embellies, the papers...absolutely everything perfectly compliments one another, and gets those creative juices flowing. So far, here is what I was able to create...and I do have more stuff, so I will have more layouts!

First up is my "Hello Sunshine" card. I used the big ol' rubon to create the front flap of my Sun shaped card. I did use my own ribbon to tie it together.

Next up is Laugh....I used the flags and the rub-ons and the buttons...just everything! These photos are of my daughter...in sequence as we took this photo shoot....First grinning, then singing, then laughing hysterically at herself! I just adore these photos and did not want to split them up into individual layout...as they show the true beauty of her nature...always smiling and happy!*I did use my own polka dot ribbon.*

Last is "Content" This is my daughter in my Mom's arms at the park about 2 years ago. Skye did not want to play, did not want to slide, did not wany anyone else to hold her...only Memaw. As I look at this photo, though, I kinda have to ask myself...Who looks more content? Skye or Memaw??? Hmmmm...that is a good question! LOL

Thank you for taking time to look at my reveal! It was sooooooo much fun to work with this YUMMY kit!!! i still have a bit more yumminess to play with, so I see another layout or two in my future with this kit!!!!

Hello Sunshine is right!!! I just love this kit!!! My favorite part is those cute, cute, cute Lily Bee rubons. I just couldn't resist using those on both of my layouts. I usually stay away from rubons, but these were just too perfect not to use. So here is my July Hello Sunshine reveal.

For my first layout I cut some of the Lily Bee paper into strips. I wanted the big yellow rubon as my title, but it didn't show up very well on the patterned paper. So I cut a circle just a little bigger than the rubon, traced it on my paper and then cut out the circle. This left me a spot to place to my title!

I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this layout when I saw that "life with you" rubon. I cut out strips of the Lily Bee paper, punched them, stitched them and then adhered them to the blue cardstock from the kit that I trimmed to 10.5 inches. I journaled on the bottom all the adjectives that describe life with Frances. Exhausting and tiring are both on there- LOL! On the hand stitching I used yellow chalk to turn the white thread yellow so it matched my paper a little better.

And for my last project I made this little card. It is a 4 x 4 card. I added a button to the flower and inked two of the chipboard banner pieces to make leaves. Then see the red paper on top? I cut that out from the label strip on the bottom of Fancy Pants paper. I didn't want that to go to waste after I cut it off!!

Love, love, love this kit! It is sold out, but Heather will order some more if you let her know you want it. AND YOU DO WANT IT!! HERE is the thread in the message board so you can put your name on the list. This kit is very versatile. I have completed these three layouts and have 2 more in the works. One is even a Christmas layout! Well, on with the creative stuff!

"Chloe"

This is our West Highland Terrier, Chloe. She is for once clean (she doesn't know she is suppose to be a fancy dog! She loves nothing more than to chase critters, swim in the bayou, and generally just get filthy!) She is also constantly trying to keep everyone in line as she sees fit no matter if it is human or another canine. Can you say bossy! Everything on the layout is in the kit except the ribbon and twine. Those are from my stash. I used MM Blue Lagoon Paint and a paint called Fresh Foliage to paint the banners. The letters are the yellow ones from the kit. I just peeled off the top layer because yellow did not suit the layout. The border was cut from one of the MME papers. Love that Lilly Bee Rub-on. It was just perfect to relate our story about living with Chloe! I really love the colors here!

"Hello Sunshine"

Now, I ask you who could resist using this big rub-on as a title? Not me! I used lots of small pics and rub-ons here. I even made the red envelope from the kit card stock that holds my journaling tag. I punched the confetti stars and sprinkled them around with the rhinestones from the kit! Love this one too! My daughter, Bryn, and my nephew, Cameron, are having a blast shooting each other with water in the bumper boats. They had a blast while we were in Hot Springs.

"Thoughts on You"

Here they are again. This time playing put-put golf. Funny!!! This one includes my thoughts about the two of them as a pair. I hand cut the paisley shape and popped it up. I used a rub-0n on a punched scalloped circle and adhered it to the paisley. Again the ribbons and twine are from my stash. Hope you get your hands on this awesome kit. I can't wait to get back to my other two layouts! have a great day!

A Little June Color Inspo From Jenny

The first time I opened up the magazine I wondered aloud, "What in the world is this?". I mean why would my mom (bless her sweet heart) send me a subscription to Traditional Home magazine?!? I mean, c'mon, I'm a mostly single (hubby is almost always deployed) mom of five younguns. While I would loove for our home to look like something out of a magazine, but... HA!!! There's just no way. But, as I continued flipping the pages, I slowly began to understand. Mom didn't get it for me as a subtle nudge to start redecorating, it's a great source of scrappy inspiration. The pages are filled with beautifully decorated homes with furnishings to inspire endless embellies. The ads are spectacularly designed. I could lift each one of them. But, I mostly love the color combos it provides me. My Color Challenge is for you to take a gander at this ad from Waverly and make a scrappy layout using the color scheme as inspiration. K?

For this 2-page layout, I used the foreground in the Waverly ad as inspiration for my kraft cardtock base. And the rest of the bright springy, retro-flavored colors of the houses inspired the rest. What do you see? What inspiration can you gather from this fabulous ad? I know I'm going to re-visit this add at a later date to lift the layout design, as well. Karry's June Title Challenge!

Can you believe it's June already? This year is just flying by! My challenge for you this month is a Title Challenge! With Father’s Day just around the corner I thought we could honor them in our June challenge. My challenge for you this month is to use a discriptive adjective in your LO title. You can scrap about anyone or anything you want, just make sure you include an adjective or two in your title. Some examples of adjectives are: amazing, fabulous, handsome, awesome, incredible…..groovy. :-) Those are some great words we could use to describe the men in our lives, right?

Hello June!!! Father's day is almost here. Do you have a card yet? If not you can make one of these nifty gift card holders! What man wouldn't love a gift card to Home Depot or Best Buy? I know my DH surely would.

I saw a gift card holder like this on one of the manufacturer's blogs. I just can't remember which one it was. I simplified it a little and made a few changes here and there to make it a little easier, but it is not my idea alone. I am just passing on the inspiration.

Here's what you will need:

1. The June SO kit! It's perfect for Father's Day or birthdays. But if you don't have the kit yet a sheet of cardstock and some patterned paper will do.
2. A circle punch (Mine is a two inch diameter)
3. A gift card!

And that's it. Pretty easy to put together. So let's get started!

Step One: Trim cardstock to 4 3/4 by 12 inches.

Step two: Fold carstock in half.

Step three: Fold each side in half again to make an accordian like below.

Step four: Trim 1/2 inch from the top and bottom of the two middle sections as shown below.

Step five: Place adhesive inside the card along the two pencil lines below. This will make our gift card pocket.

Step six: Decorate the inside.

Step 7: Punch a third of a circle from the top of the gift card pocket.

Step 8: Decorate front, add gift card and hide until Father's Day.

These would be perfect for birthdays, showers, thank you's, etc. Happy June and Happy Father's Day!

Good morning! This is my first kit reveal and I am just too excited! This kit was so much fun to work with. I have the hardest time finding manly paper that I just love, so this kit was a wonderful surprise. It is gorgeous, the colors are so warm and yummy. The papers are so versatile, I love the mix of gorgeous patterns. I could just keep on and on creating with it.

My first page is of my husband early last spring on top of Mt. Currahee, it's our closest mountain. It's not very big, but it still a nice view and a fun way to spend the afternoon! :D The words on the page and the buttons are mostly Badda Bing chipboard with a few from the Bits A Bella sheet. The title piece is from the Billboards sheet. Love it! Those pieces where so much fun, the possibilities are endless with the wide variety of shapes, words and buttons! I am also in love with those cute little Jenni Bowlin copper stick pins.

My second page is a picture of my husband from last month. You have to scrap the icky along with the good, right? lol I think this might have been our third trip to the emergency room in as many weeks. :-( My poor husband felt like he had been bulldozed. Kidney Stones are NO FUN! The "Never Give Up" circle, the Mr. Tough Guy strip and the journaling dot are from the Bits A Bella paper. The strips underneath the pic are also from that same paper. The word "Not" is the Cosmo Cricket chip letters. I used some Badda Bing chipboard to help it pop a little. The buttons and the little accents are also Badda Bing. The Sun Corral Bazzill is also from the kit. The only thing from my stash is "again" .

This card is the Coastal Blue Bazzill from the kit. I used some of the Basic Gray Capella gummies and gorgeous flowers on here too. The Billboard pp was perfect for my card! The Blue and white pp is from the Bits A Bella paper. The Cosmo Cricket letters worked great for my card too.

With this card I used some stitching and distressed all my edges to give it some texture. The Badda Bings accents where just perfect to complete my simple little Father's Day card!

Happy Tuesday and ALMOST summer vacation to you! We have just four more days to go here and this teacher can't wait!!! How about some more exciting news? The June Kit from Simply obsessed is just great! I was wondering just how these colors would work for me, but they came together so easily. Here is what I came up with.
And He Says "The Girls Like Me"

This is my first ever 8 1/2 x 11 layout and I really enjoyed working with this size. I see more of these in my future. The photo is of my oldest son Sean at the "Very Special Prom" at his high school. This prom is held for students and past students of the special education classes here. He looked forward to it for a long time and while getting ready he informed me "The Girls Like Me!" Oh boy, what do we have in store for us? The Kraft colored letters are just the Cosmo ones that came in the kit. I just peeled the top layer off because I thought this color better suited my layout. The tiny brown alphas are from my stash. This extra long title required lots of alphas!

"2 of a Kind"

I used a sketch from Magpie to complete this one. This is my husband and daughter hanging out. They are very much two of a kind! I cut the blue circles out and used them to create a scalloped border.

"Sometimes I Wonder"

This layout features a photo of my father when he was six. i just love working with old photos. I love the color combo going on here. Notice the flower at the top. I just cut a circle from the orange cardstock and cut out the blue diamonds on another paper and used them as the petals. I hand cut the star and journal tag also. i know this will be one of those layouts I treasure.

Ahhh, my favorite time of year! It is so nice outside, school is ending and the June kit is a rockin'!! I had so much fun working with this kit. I love that it has a masculine feel to it, but also has some pretty feminine touches like those awesome Basic Grey flowers and gummies, gorgeous Jenni Bowlin t-pins and the metal Making Memories metal accents. I couldn't resist making one girly page and one boyish page. Hey, I had to throw pink there somewhere or it just wouldn't be me right?

My girlish layout is "Girl's Day Out". Frances and I played hooky from school one day and went to the zoo while Daddy was at work. It was a fun girls day out. I made the Man of the House papers more feminine by adding a pink ribbon from my stash, punching some "lace" paper, and using the Jenni Bowlin t-pins. There was also some pink the gummy I used. I used the Thickers from last months kit (Crate Paper Pink Plum) and doodled on them with my white pen.

My boyish layout is "the Little guy". This is my little guy Bacon. We call him the little guy because he is only seven pounds. I carried him around like a baby before baby Frances moved in with us. He is getting older now (a whopping 17 years) so we cherish these little moments with him. I used some little alphas from my stash to complete the title and my label maker for the journaling.

And for my last project I made my Dad a Father's Day card. This is the perfect paper for father's day!

Jenny's TRUE Man of the House Reveal

Where do you find scrappy inspiration? I found some while scrolling through some handmade goodies over at Etsy. Can you find which of my June layouts was inspired by this little stationary set? You may even find a little inspiration here today as I share my Man of the House projects with you.

Happy Friday Simply Obsessed Fans! As soon as I received my June Man of the House kit, my mind began to churn. I don't get a lot of time to sit down and scrap with my hubby deployed overseas and me being the only caregiver to our 5 kids. So, whenever I can, I think scrapbooking. I tossed around the thought to use this kit to document my current "Man of the House". He's 2 inches shorter than me and 9 years old. But, I figured I do enough pages about P.J., and as hard as it may be emotionally, I thought I should celebrate my hubby Patrick. While he may not be here very often, he is still The Man.

The first two layouts are photos my hubby sent me from the Ike just weeks ago. They recently made a port call in Dubai, and like any good hubby of an avid/rabid scrapbooker would do, he took pictures for me. I love that he gets me. Warts and all.

Lots of layered circles and stars. It was all spurred by that large dot patterened paper. Love it. So many possibilities!

This next one was inspired by the chipboard sheet. The Badda Bings chipboard was my favorite element of the whole kit. I just had to use lots of thoses yummies. So, I created a little border utilizing them and some of the Basic Grey gummies and the Bo Bunny Buttons & Bling with some pieces handcut from one of the other pp's.

For this last one, I chose the photos that represented family. Besides being a wonderful kit to celebrate the men in your life, it also works perfectly to rejoice in your family as a whole. Love this one...

Misty's June Reveal

Ok...so I got my kit on Monday, and with all of the end of the school year activities going on, I was not able to break it open until Tuesday night. When I did....all I could say was WOW. Yes....WOW. Heather did a fantastic job of pairing the embellishments with the Bella papers! This kit is FANTASTIC!

It s no secret that I do not do many masculine layouts or projects...which does not make sense because I have a HOUSE FULL of guys! I am more typically drawn to the frilly side of life...and again, I find that in my layouts with a typically masculine kit! Somehow, I always find a way to make it girly! LOL

Here is "You Gotta Dance" featuring my youngest when she was only a baby. I altered the photo to add in the bubbles, and I used the patterned paper that was in the kit to my advantage...and I pop dotted some of the circles up to look like the bubbles have come out of the photo and onto the page. I made a couple of pinwheels and added the buttons from the kit for the centers. I also used the fabric flowers from the kit to help create a whimsical look to this layout.

This is my son...shaving for the first time ever. He actually used my hubby's electric trimmer instead of a razor. I created my left border to represent the stubble...then the right border is clean. I created the "stubble" by fringing the paper then using a toothpick to wrap the ends around and curl it up.

Here is my Fathers' Day card...as folded button down collared shirt! I wanted something a little different...and this is what was the result. the white part is an insert that you can create your message on...pulls out easily. When pulled out....

This is what you get. I put the chipboard sticker on the inside of the shirt for the "tag"...and a little hidden surprise for Dad when he pulls out the insert!

I will have one more project to share with you all soon...so keep your eye out for the June Design Team Challenges on the board!

We have a new DT member! Elizabeth had to step down for personal reasons - I am very sad to see her go! She was a great team member, but I know what she is doing is what is best for her! You will be missed Elizabeth!

May Photo Challenge

Happy, happy May!! How exciting that all the challenges will be posted on the first Monday of the month now! This is a great way to get ready for summer by scrapping all those Spring photos.

My challenge for you this month is a photo challenge. Specifically to crop and tilt your photos. I discovered this technique a while back on the Jessica Sprague website and have loved it ever since. It gives photos just a little extra something. To do this you will need to open your photo in a photo editing software like photoshop. If you do not have photoshop you can use photobucket and picasa, both are free online photo storage and editing websites.

To do this open your photo with the software. Draw the box around it to crop it. If you put the mouse over any of the corners of the crop box a little curved arrow will show up. Click on the curved arrow and while holding down twist the crop box to the desired direction. Hit the ok button to crop your photo and there you have it a cropped and tilted photo!

Here is my orginal photo and my cropped and tilted photo. I used this one on my May reveal layout for the Pink Plum kit.

Mother's Day Make-N-Take

So...who would like an idea for a Super Easy AND inexpensive Mother's Day gift??? I know I would!! I have three Mother's that I give gifts to, so sometimes, something a little less expensive is ideal. Well, today, I am going to give you just that!

An Altered Candle in a Jar~!

I went to Wal Mart and bought a few different candles in a jar...they smell WONDERFUL and are only $5! You can't beat that!!! When I was selecting my candles, I tried to match the colors of the candle to the supplies I knew that I had on hand for the altering part.

For this one, I used the Pumpkin Spice...it is orange in color, and smells sooooooooo good! I know My Mother in Law is going to LOVE this!
SO....once you have your candle, gather the rest of your supplies...
...I used the May Kit for all of my supplies...including the ribbon add on and the GORGEOUS butterfly!! Mod Podge is a must.

Next, you cut your patterned paper to fit around your jar...so that you can COVER that atrocious UGLY label that is on it. LOL...we are going to make a gorgeous label! You will cover your jar with Mod Podge...this will be your glue. Apply your paper label that you cut out...being sure to center it. Once it is on, you will cover that with Mod Podge again...this is the sealant part. Let it dry for about 15 minutes.

Next, I add a border to the top and bottom of the label. Sometimes it is a ribbon, trim...whatever...this time, I used my loopy Martha Stewart punch and created my own border using some Bazzill brown card stock from the May kit. Use the same steps for applying this as you did for applying the label.
Now you will decorate that lid. Use your circle cutter to cut out a circle from paper to completely cover your lid. Mod Podge your lid, apply the circle, then Mod podge again...let it sit for 15 minutes. While it is drying, you can be assembling your flower for the top.
I used the lacy trim from my kit to make a center of a large lollipop flower. I did use mod podge on the paper to give it stiffness...or you can use a spray sealant...or even just use pre-made flowers...totally up to you!

Once my flower was made, I hot glued my butterfly to the center and hot glued the whole assembly to my lid that had dried while I was working. Oh yea....I did use foam thickers...I find that the foam works a LOT better for forming around the face of the jar than chip board alphas do! LOL...of course you can use whatever you want...Just make it your own! ....Here is my final product.....

My next task is to make a matching card for this...but that should be super easy with the scraps that I have left over from the FANTABULOUS May Kit!!!

The photo is one of me when I was about four. (Check out the lovely fabric on the chair--YIKES!) I used the title as a jumping off point for the journaling. It reads: I couldn't have known how perfect my life would be. I just knew that I was happy. I am glad for what I had Then.

A Make and Take for National Scrapbook Day!

How would you like to make a cute little box flower like this? You know there are 2 things that are all the rage these days in the scrappy industry... banners (love them) and handmade flowers. I discovered these cute little flowers on the Cosmo Cricket blog a few months back. They're super easy to make. If you can close a cardboard box, you can make one of these.

I like to make my flowers with 2 layers. So, I started off with 8 circles, 4 in 2 different sizes. Fold 4 of them in half and crinkle them up for texture.

Now, start layering them. You need to put a small dab of adhesive just right of center and then add the next piece. You will work clockwise around the flower.

The only tricky piece is the last. you need to dab the adhesive on the petal at the same spot, just right of center AND fold the left piece up and dab under there too. You're completing the flower just like you shut a cardboard box, by linking up the sides. Like so...

Once you've done that put a little crease in the top layer, one on each "petal". Then make the next set of cirles into a smaller layer and use a glue dot to adhere to the top of your first flower. Connect them with a brad or a button, you get the picture. Volia!

Now, for my first flower, I simply used punched circles. But, imagine the possibilities. You coul ink the edges of the circles. You could use a scallop punch. You could distress the edges of your circles. The possibilities are endless! For this one I distressed and used a scallop punch...

There you have it. Your very own Make & Take in the comfort of your own home. Happy National Scrapbook Day!

I can't believe we are almost in May and that school is almost out! As a teacher I eagerly look forward to this time to catch up, enjoy my family, and reflect on my year of teaching. I can't wait for it to arrive! Speaking of arriving, I was so excited to receive my May SO kit featuring the Crate Paper Pink Plum goodness! The colors are just beautiful! So, I HAD to get ALL of the add-ons! I had a great time working with this kit and here is what I came up with:

This first layout features photos from our Easter egg hunt this year. My daughter is the youngest of all the grandchildren and no one wanted to hunt with her. Her Pappaw stepped up to the plate and made it quite the contest. The photo on the left is the countdown where he told her "Ready, Set, Hunt" which I used as the title! He had her laughing and they had the best time and so did I watching them. She is one lucky girl because she has the very best Pappaw! I hand cut some embellies for this one ( sun and clouds). I really love this one and can't imagine ever forgetting this awesome memory. I am so glad I have it captured for her in the future. It is just too wonderful to let pass by!

For this next one I used a photo that fit Misty's photo challenge-Take a picture that doesn't show the face. I took this one from the back of my subject as she was finding an egg hidden in the bare crepe myrtle tree. I love this photo and the bare branches add so much to it. The journaling reflects on the delight I find in enjoying the wonderful person my daughter is.

Lastly I did a vintage type layout of my parents. The photo isn't the best, but I love documenting the memories. They are on their way to my dad's senior football banquet at Springhill High School in Springhill, LA in February 1963! I look at my dad and see my youngest son Ryan. They share so many traits. I need to do a layout about that fact! Anyway, this one has some fussy cutting. I used one of the patterned papers and cut the floral pattern from it so that the brown card stock would show through. I think I pulled off the vintagy feel.

The fourth layout I completed with the kit is for my challenge that will go up in the forum on May 3 and I think it may be my favorite of the bunch! Can't wait to share it with you! Happy May! (well almost!)
I can't believe we are already about to enter the 5th month of the year! I just love the springtime with all of the beautiful blooming flowers, and butterflies! This months kit is PERFECT for your Spring or Easter pictures! Or you can even use this kit to make GORGEOUS Mother's Day cards! ;)
There are beautiful colors of plums, purples, shades of pinks, oranges, and brown! Such a beautiful combination of color! Not to mention the emnbellishments that coordinate perfectly with this stunning kit!
YOu will drool over the handmade flowers and brads, and the glittered butterfly! Beautiful!
Here is what I did with May's kit using Crate Paper Pink Plum.

"She's So Charming"
I've been taking a photography class, and these are some practice shots of my youngest daughter. She was very good about letting me practice on her! I used the big glittered butterfly here, and made swirls with the little "pebbles" that came with the kit, and added some Cinnamon Stickles for more bling!

"Be You"
This is a photo of my oldest daughter. She is unique, and I'm so proud of her for being who she is no matter what. I added the decorative clip from the kit, and brought out the yellows by adding some Jenni Bowlin butterflies from my stash, and some alphas.

"You Are Special To Me" CARD
I thought this card would be perfect for someone special! And these papers and cardtock stickers were perfect for a quick and easy card! :)

Sarah's Pink Plum Reveal

t's almost like Heather put this kit together just for me- LOL! It has all my favorites- the colors pink, brown and orange, butterflies, flowers, handmade brads, cardstock stickers, and more!!! I couldn't ask for anything more! I love, love, love this kit!

I thought the colors were perfect for Easter so I chose to do two Easter layouts. The first is of Frances on her Easter Egg hunt. She had so much fun and carried her basket of eggs all over like they were here little treasures. I used the cricut to cut my title from the patterned paper and added some ribbon from my stash. You see I got online just a little too late to have the addons shipped with my kit :(. I am kicking myself for that! I would have loved to use that delicous add on ribbon. So don't make my mistake and hurry up and order yours. I noticed some were already gone.

My second layout is of Frances after Easter dinner. The Easter Bunny put some bubbles in her basket and she had never seen bubbles before. After dinner we went out to try them. She didn't quite get the hang of it. That's why there's no bubbles in the picture! I used the rubons on the side of my photo. I am usually afraid of rubons, but these went on so smooth. I also used some letter stickers from my stash. And look at those brads! Can you believe Heather made those??? She is just soooooo talented!

For my last project I made a wall hanging for my living room. It is an 8 x 8 chipboard page I had left over from an old chipboard album. I covered it with patterned paper and then embellished it with flowers and butterflies I cut out of the patterened paper. I also clipped on that gorgeous butterfly. I couldn't stand to have it hidden in an album somewhere. It was just too pretty. I used a picture of Frances and I from mothers day last year so I cut out the word "mother" from the cardstock stickers to fit across the photo instead of vertically. I used repositionable adhesive on my photo so I can change it out each year. I will add a new picture of us from this Mother's day in a few weeks.

Misty's Photo Challenge

So many times, we get into this state of mind that our subject has to be LOOKING at the camera for it to be a GOOD photo. This is so very MUCH not true. Some of the most captivating photos that I have ever seen are NOT of a subject's face...but rather their back, or their hands or even their feet. The old adage "A picture is worth a thousand words" is so very true...no matter what angle the photo is shot in.

Below, I have a few photos of the mini photo shoot that I did recently with my son and my nephew. They are both VERY country~fied little boys, very T-shirt and blue jeans, and they are best friends. I wanted to capture these things in photos, but I knew that these things were going to be lost with just a few "head-shots". Instead, I captured them in different angles, with their backs to me as if they were looking out over the country side. I took one of my son in his "Thinking Position" as he calls it with his head bowed and the hat covering his face...and I took one of their feet...to show the true nature of these 2 boys in ratty old blue jeans and worn out tennis shoes.
Yes, I took some of their faces also..but these photos were so much more captivating to me than the plain old "head-shot"

So...my challenge to you is...."Off with their Heads!" (or faces anyway!)
When you take your next photo, leave out the faces. Capture the essence without putting a face on it. Have fun with your camera and your subject...You will be GLAD that you did!!

Pinks & Browns & Bears, Oh My!! by Jenny

Hello all you Simply Obsessed fans. Jenny here with you today to share some of the projects I created with May's Pink Plum kit. I absolutely love playing with scrapbook kits. I love the challenge of creating something with a set pile o stuff. It really pushes me creatively. I also love kits because it makes me play outside of my comfort zone. It gets me to dive into a paper line or company, I may not have worked with before.

Simply Obsessed's May kit does not disappoint. This kit is flippin amazing. The richness of the pinks and browns and oranges is absolutely spectacular. And don't get me started on the B sides of the papers either. Heather actually made her own brads?!? I got the main kit plus the cardstock add-on (had to have the quicksand cardstock) and the ribbon add-on (check out the pink ribbon below) and the chipboard stickers. I know, I know ... greedy, greedy. With that said, I slammed out 3 layouts and still have a TON of goodies left to play with...

Check back tomorrow for even more inspiration. Can't wait to see what YOU create with Pink Plum.

Misty's May Reveal

Good Morning all you Simply Obsessed ladies! I have to say, when I got my kit in the mail on Friday, my mouth dropped in AWE of all of the gorgeous elements!!! This kit is flippin' AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I did not get as much done as I had planned for my reveal today...but that's ok...I will!! I have three completed layouts to share with you today...the rest will wait for a bit longer. =) Oh...all alphas are from my own stash. There were some manufacturer delays so my kit didn't have the alphas...but YOURS will..I promise!!

Here is "Isn't she Lovely". This is my husband's Grandmother when she was graduating. I used the lacy ribbon from the add-ons to create the larger vintage lace flowers to match the smaller one that comes in the kit. I also did a bit of vintage corset style lacing for added dimension and to add to the vintag~y feel of this layout. The thickers did not come in the kit...they are from my own stash.

Here is "delight". I wanted to create a different look with the elements...something more playful and airy...which is not my norm at all...but I do like how it turned out. I used bubble wrap and turquoise paint to create the splashy look in the background and the water droplets. I also fussy cut the orange paper to create the look of swirling waves.

And here is "Precious" This is my friend when she was a baby...this is going to be a gift for her Mom for Mother's Day.This was inspired by Ronda's sketch. It is a bit different, but still maintains the basics. Thanks for the inspiration, Ronda! I did get all of the add-ons, which included all of the chipboard elements that you see here...and the thickers are from my own stash.

April Title Challenge

Hello, Sarah here with a title challenge for you!

Now that all the major holidays are past us, I have so many pictures to scrap. It is so fun to get out those pictures and look through them. I am tempted to scrap my new spring pictures, but looking back at all the holidays and special days that have passed always gives me the inspiration I need to get a layout scrapped.

My challenge for April is to get out those holiday photos and scrap them and of course since this is a "title" challenge include the name of the holiday in the title. Here is an example layout of "My Little Valentine".

Susan's Layout Challenge

Happy Spring everyone! I hope you are getting to enjoy this beautiful weather we have been having! Well by now you all know how much I LOVE the April Kit and how versatile I think it is and how much I love to scrap older photos using it! So, when I was thinking about my challenge I decided that this was the route to take. I also wanted to include a little scraplift angle to it since we are doing the Scrap Relay in the forum. So here is my challenge to you:
1.Create a layout using photos of yourself/siblings when you were very young.
2. Scraplift a scrappy person who is a real inspiration to you.

For my example I used a pic of myself when I was four at Easter. I used it twice, once in color and once in black and white. My layout is a scrap lift of one Stephanie Howell did of her girls. I love her work, so simple and fresh! Not to mention her sweet personality. I read her blog regularly.

Speaking of Colors!

Hey there! It's Elizabeth here to talk to you about color.
Color plays such an important part in our lives, I simply couldn't live without it myself!
If you feel like I do, then while scrappin' you want to find the perfect color combos that you can when you are creating.
Sometimes though, its fun to put together a color combo that you don't normally or one that you don't do often. As of late the color schemes don't seem to be primary.
So I thought to do a color challenge and go back to the basics!
Primary colors make a statement all the while showing boldness and strength too!

So your challenge should you chose to accept it, is to follow this color scheme

These colors can work with just about anything! The skies the limit with this color combo, so I cannot wait to see what you create with it and how you chose to do this challenge!

Misty's April Reveal

Good Morning Everyone! Misty here, and I just wanted to tell you...it is a BEAUTIFUL April Fool's Day here in Texas...No Foooling!!

I am going to share my creations with you using the April Obsession... featuring the October Afternoon's Thrift Shop Collection. I was able to create 3 layouts and a card...and I still have plenty left to whip out another couple of cards or layouts!

First, I was inspired by the blue hues and wanted to do a "beachy" layout...so I did "REMEMBER". This is from our trip to the beach last spring. We had such a good time...and I want them to remember how great it was. Remember the old saying "Tie a string around your finger so you won't forget."...? Well, I did just that! I tied a length of that fabulous baker's twine around that hand with the finger pointing and pop dotted the hand up off of the page. I also used Diamond Glaze to create water droplets on the surface of the layout.

"Treasures of the Heart" was inspired by my daughter's daily gifts of tiny treasures to me. I am sure you all know exactly what I am talking about! The tiniest flowers that she can find, sometimes they are actually weeds...and every now and then, she will bring me a rock because it was "Beautiful". I love that she does this...and I wanted to remember it. The flowers stems are cut from my cricut and the flowers themselves are all hand created using various scraps from the papers in the kit. I created the ruffled lace using plain white cardstock and the MS apron punch. I pleated it and attached it all with dry adhesive, then hand stitched it to the page for security.

"ADORE" is a bit out of the norm for this kit I think. I wanted to do something that was a little different than the "vintagy" look. I used the clear butterfly overlay as my inspiration to create this layout. I used a quote that I love..."There are only two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings". The butterflies and "ADORE" are cut with my cricut using paper from the kit.

And finally, I have a card. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the prints on the papers in this kit!!! I kept having fleeting images of my childhood favorite dresses, and of Shirley Temple!!! I could not resist the temptation to make this. The apron will lift up to reveal my inside message....which I have not created yet...because I have NO IDEA who will recieve this card! LOL.

Sarah's April Reveal

Hello everyone and Happy Spring!!! Yes, it is finally spring here. It is going to be over 70 degrees today I am just so excited!!! And there couldnt' have been a better time for the April Thrift shop kit to land on my doorstep. I have always loved October Afternoon, but this kit just blew me away! The patterns and colors are perfect for spring and are so versatile. And with so many embellies to choose from I only needed to add a little ribbon from my stash to complete my layouts.

So my first layout with this gorgeous kit had a spring theme. This is my sweet daughter Frances walking outside for the first time in her new spring jacket. I punched from butterflies using my Martha Stewart punches from the patterned paper to give it that spring theme.

All the lace patterns on the paper reminded me of clothing so I chose to use the paper for my this shoe shopping layout. I used the addon letters to make my title- "Every girl needs new shoes" and the addon floss to to through my buttons and pattern paper. I used some stitching too to resemble the laces on the shoes.

for my last project I created a quick little card using my leftover scraps. Isn't it darling? And

I have lots of paper and embellies left and two more layouts in progress on my scraptable to share with you later this week. Happy Spring!! - Sarah

Jenny's Thrift Shop Reveal

OMGoodness, I lurve this kit. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!! But, life got in the way of me playing with it on Saturday when it arrived on my porch.and I couldn't start playing with it. I was finally able to dive into its goodness just yesterday. and, I completed FIVE pages in one day. So, here we are...

I seriously could have cranked out even more if it weren't for these pesky kids who live with me. wink. Hope you got yours!!

First Reveal for the AWESOME April Kit!!

Hello everyone, Susan here. I am so excited to share my creations using the April kit featuring October Afternoon's Thrift Shop. This is one versatile kit. There are so many color combinations that can be achieved. I have had so much fun with it. I got my kit on Saturday and had 4 layouts completed by Sunday morning. I have more in the works (at least 3, maybe even more!) This kit just keeps on! Yeah, I did purchase ALL of the add-ons, but who could resist!!

It is great to scrap older photos because of the vintage vibe! For my first layout I went way back to when I was 4!!
"Fond Memories"

I chose this photo of my brother and I on the beach in Grand Isle, LA. I blew it up to an 8x10. I wanted it to have lots of impact. The color combo I used here is one of my favorites-yellow, bird's egg blue, and red. It is a combination that pops! I used strips of paper on both sides of the photo. I inked everything with Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink. I also tucked a piece of the blue paper that I cut around the shapes to resemble scallops under the strips on the left side. I used the journal stickers off of the sticker add-on sheet down the bottom left side of the photo. For the cluster at the bottom right I layered a MME ticket, stickers from the OA sheet, a piece of the blue paper that I cut the entire floral piece from, a JB button threaded with the red twine and a butterfly punched from the red cardstock in the add-on. I added the title with the OA sticker letters at the top left along with another sticker and a butterfly.

For the second layout I have scrapped my sweet little girl when she was 3 at the beach in Gulf Shores, AL.
"You"

This one uses kraft cardstock as the base. I punched a few scalloped circles here and there and backed them with different OA papers. I created the scalloped edging with black cardstock and my apron lace punch. The cluster at the bottom left of the photo features one of the alphabet cards. To it I added a few stickers from the OA words sheet, red twine, some of the flowers, a JB button, and one of the K&Co frames that I cut apart and used around the edge of the alpha card. The title is from the flocked black add on sheet. I added a few stars from the sticker sheet just plopped down randomly. I drew lines and journaled directly on them. The blue cardstock that backs the photo helps it to pop off of the page.

Okay, for layout #3 I went back to my wedding day. This is me and my little cousin, Haley, before the start of the ceremony. "Little Haley" now has two children of her own, YIKES!
"Almost Time"

I used the OA pattern paper as a background here. Love this stuff!I layered three different papers in the center along with the photo. I also used the blue border sticker from the add-on sheet along with the floral one at the bottom. Cluster #1 at the bottom left of the photo used stickers form OA sheet, green twine, the GCD studios acetate lady, a ticket, decorative pins, a flower I made from the word paper, and a few initials. Cluster 2-The title with the black flocked letters, a round sticker from the add-on, a K&Co frame, and a piece of kraft left over from the "You" layout that I inked with faded denim distress ink. Cluster #3-top left-- a small piece of the blue border sticker, another piece of leftover kraft, and a word sticker.

Okay layout # 4 goes back to 1971. I love these photos with my two brothers.
"The Way We Were"

The background is green cardstock from the add-on. A wide strip of floral paper, a strip I used my large scallop punch on were placed slightly off-center. I matted the photos on black, added a pleated ribbon I used some of the blue stripe paper to make.Also contains some border stickers, a ticket.flowers, pins, and cut-outs from one of the papers. i used the small word stickers down the right side of the wide floral paper. My favorite element on this one is the kraft envelope. I attached it to the back with a glue runner and let the flap come over to the front. Inside is a journal card with all of my nostalgic memories about these pics! I used a JB button as the other side of the closure since the other is adhered to the back of the layout. I also inserted one of the shapes I cut from the paper. The title used ledger stickers and the multi-colored alphas that came in the kit.

See what I mean---VERSATILE! And wait until you see how completely different the other layouts I have in the works are! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this kit! I hope you were able to get yours because they are now sold out!!( Just heard, Heather ordered some more, so hurry and go get yours!!) I hope I inspired you and I will be back with more because I intend to use this kit until there is not one scrap left, LOL!! Have a great Monday, Susan

Jenny's March Photo Challenge

Alright. Pull up a chair. Lean in. I'm going to tell you something. I like rectangular photos. Yep, I do. And not just fancy rectangular ones, but the sizes that come STRAIGHT out of my photo printer. I don't even crop them. Now, now hold your gasps down. I do use 4 by 3's and 2 by 3's besides my 4 by 6's. You know what? I'm not ashamed to admit it either. I like the clean crisp lines these shapes provide me when I'm gettin my scrap on.

Guess what I did? I made a layout WITHOUT my favorite sizes/shapes. I used squares! You may have seen a peek of this one when I was asking for an extension on one of Ronda's fabulous challenges. So, my challenge for you today is to use square photos on a layout. Please link me up. I'd love to see.

Sorry for the short post. I'm keeping the Twinnies occupied in the backyard while my hubby finishes packing. He deploys today for Afganistan. Prayers are always welcome. Enjoy your Thursday.

Sarah's March LO Challenge

Hello all, Sarah here with a layout challenge for you.

I love the look of those cute little banners I see all over on layouts and cards. Perfect for a birthday celebration layout, right? Exactly what I thought! So I created this little banner from scrap patterned paper and raffia. I can't get enough of the raffia right now. I have been putting it on everything! I decorated the banner with flowers and hearts and then birthday candles. I even attempted to put the title on the little flags. In the end I decided the banner looked cute just as is. I guess some times simple is the best way to go. I tried to go easy on the embellishments on this layout too to keep the attention on the extra cute birthday girl. I also used one of the March sketch's from Scrapbook Challenges for a little inspiration.

So my challenge for you this month is to create a banner. It can be big or small, plain or embellished, it's up to you. We would love to see it to. Upload your creation to the simply obsessed gallery when your done.

Hey everyone! It's Elizabeth and I'm here to talk to you about the kits!
That's right March kit!!! It is chalked full of yummy goodies!

This kit was pretty filled with St. Patrick's Day themes. However I wanted to take it in a different direction and let my inspiration come from the colors of this wonderful kit!

March Guest Designer!!

It has been a long time coming! Jamie aka gr82banAUTiger is March's Guest Designer! She does awesome work and I couldn't wait to see what she did with the March kit, but before I show you her fabulous work lets get to know her a little bit better!!Here are some questions I asked her:

1. Where do you live? Weaver, Alabama. It's a teeny, tiny, little speck on the map right outside of Anniston, AL (which is almost exactly half way between Birmingham, AL & Atlanta, GA).

2. Do you have any kids? Yes, I have a son, Mason, who will be 11 this month (March 26) & a daughter, Morgan, who will be 3 in July.

3 Do you have any pets? Yes, until very recently we had a zoo! We now have 2 cocker spaniels- a blonde female named Scarlett & a black & white male named Rhett, a turtle who's name changes as often as my son sees fit (I think it's name is Squirt or Crush or something like that from Finding Nemo), & a goldfish named Dorothy (just like Elmo's fish). We just got rid of a cat who my son named Aubie, but my daughter lovingly dubbed "Caa" (that's cat in Morgan-ese), 2 birds that never had names, & a hamster (Spongebob...or was it Patrick?...Who knows?!) We are still trying to get rid of the male cocker spaniel because he's as dumb as a rock.

4.What was the last book you read? I do NOT read unless I absolutely have to. I have things around here that I don't fully understand how to use them because I won't even read the directions! The last book I read would probably have been whatever was assigned for summer reading in the 11th grade. I don't remember having to read any in college.

5.Do you like to cook? Do frozen tv dinners count?

6.What's your favorite food? Peanut butter oreos are food, right? If we are talking about an actual meal, I'll take a steak & baked potato anytime!

7.Do you have brothers and sisters? I have 1 half brother & 2 step brothers, but no sisters. All of my brothers are much older than me. My youngest brother is 7 years older than me, so I was kind of like an only child growing up. For most of my life, I was the only child living in the house.

8. Which sport do you like? Is it necessary that I answer this one? College football!!!!

9.Have you ever lived in another country? Nope, I've only lived out of this state for about 2 months.

10.Have you ever met a famous person? Yes, I met Travis Tritt in a guitar store in Nashville one time. He happened to come in there while we were looking around. I also used to be a HUGE Reba McEntire fan when I was about 12 or 13 & I got to go backstage & meet her once at a concert in Atlanta.

11.How do you spend your free time? Scrapbooking, of course.

12.What super-power would you most like to have, and why? I'm not sure about super powers, but I'd love to have a remote control that controlled my children! I'd wear stop, pause, & mute out within a week!

I love the pictures she used for this LO! I also love how she cut out the shapes from a piece of pattern paper and used them under the pictures to balance things out!

Sarah's "Lucky" March Reveal

Hello everyone and happy March. First of all I have to say just how stinkin' excited I am to be back for my second term at Simply Obsessed! This is seriously the best team, best kit club and best scrappy place there is. I am so honored and grateful that Heather asked me to come back and work among this super talented group of girls. Well enough about that! On to the kit reveal............

Every month I say this is the best kit yet. And yep, I am going to say it again this month :). The March Lucky Me kit is just so fun! Even my husband commented on my projects and said how much he liked the colors. I would never pick out these colors on my own. I always go for pinks and reds. Good thing I have Heather, because I love the projects I created with this kit. That's just one of the reasons I love the kits at SO so much. I find so many great products that I would have otherwise overlooked if not for the kit. Plus the kits are always jam packed with amazing products!

My first layout is of my husband, my daughter and I. We were fooling around with the self timer on the camera and took these goofy pics. I cut out the swirls on the patterned paper to make embellishments and used some chipboard and thickers from my stash.

All right, I'll admit it. I couldn't resist adding some pink to this layout. I don't like it when people think Frances is a boy so I thought a little pink would solve that. Aren't those prima roses the cutest? I wanted to use them as is because I thought they looked so cute like that. I tied them with a pink ribbon to make a rose bouquet.

I usually don't like making cards, but I love the cards I made with this kit. I tied some raffia around each to give them fun dimension and used the cool Jillibean soup buttons.

After all this, I still have tons of product left too! I am saving it for photos of our traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner that I make every year on St. Patty's day. YUMMMY! Have a great one- Sarah

Susan's Lucky Reveal

Hi everyone! I am so excited to share my work with you as an official member of the Simply Obsessed design team! I need to thank Heather for giving me this wonderful opportunity. The March kit featuring the Little Yellow Bicycle Lucky Me line is just wonderful! The colors are absolutely beautiful not to mention the wonderful little crocheted clover. This etsy find is oh so sweet! I also purchased the ribbon and bling add-on. Anyway, on with the reveal!
For the first one I wanted to do a masculine layout featuring my son Kyle. He graduated last year and is doing well with his job, etc. I decided to use an oversized black and white photo of him I took one day after work.

I used some of the striped paper under the photo as well as the brown ribbon from the add-on. Over that I layered the little shamrock border sticker. I created a cluster of embellies on the lower right corner of the photo. For the cluster I punched a large circle and a medium scalloped circle from some of the green coordinating paper. I outlined and inked these to help them pop a bit. I used pop dots and layered them with a clear cut clover, I Love You sticker, a threaded button and that adorable little clover. I used rub-ons to create the title "You Dream Big." I also made a little border above the top left corner of the photo using some of the stickers.

I really love this second layout. Bryn posed for these one afternoon in her new sundress. The colors coordinated perfectly with these papers.

I used two papers and stitched down the center to form the background paper. I used one 4x6 photo of Bryn matted with the plaid paper. This photo is popped up with pop dots. Next to it I placed three 2x3 photos. I added a cluster at the top left corner using punched circles, stickers, and a cute little button.There is also a little hidden journaling tag that sticks out at the bottom of the little cluster. To create this I just cut a rectangle, punched a hole, tied some ribbon and wrote my thoughts down. I tucked it behind the photo and used a little piece of bling to hold it in place. There is another cluster at the bottom right using stickers, buttons, bling, and the little prima roses that I inked with some brown distress ink. I added one more little sticker at the top left of the wallet photos.

The last layout I have to share has lots of "white space."

I used two different patterned papers to create a background. I cut off one side of the die-cut paper and let it stick out from under one side. I layered a ribbon over this and tied a little bow near the bottom. I created a cluster at the top left of the photo using a punched circle, stickers, buttons, and a clover I cut from the other side of the die-cut paper.The title went at the bottom of the pic. To tone down the bright green here I applied a little stazon black ink to the letters before placing them on the layout. The journaling was done on a little label sticker(not included in the kit) placed near the bottom of the page and under the ribbon. The last little touch I added to balance the layout was a couple of scraps of paper and a sticker that I stitched to the top left corner of the layout.

AND I still have lots left to play with. I intend to work on another layout or two this weekend using the kit. I will repeat myself here---the colors in this kit are just wonderful! Jenny's Lucky March Reveal

OMGoodness!!! I'm SOOOOO excited to be here with you today. It's my very first reveal as an official member of the uber fabulous Design Team here at Simply Obsessed. I'm so honored that Heather loved my work enough to let me share it with you for the next six months. March's kit is chock full of Little Yellow Bicycle's Lucky line. It also includes some of those fabulous new Jillibean soup buttons. These buttons are so different from your other buttons! Don't froget the cool crocheted shamrock (an awesome Etsy find) and the Prima flowers.... ahh.

I got four layouts done and still have a pile of stuff left for some more scrappy goodness. The first layout mixed 4-5 pp's and some of the cool clear embellies with some handmade flowers. You know you're digging all these cool flowers we're seeing popping up everywhere. I made a lollipop flower and a few box flowers with several of the LYB's pp's. Love how these turned out.

Oh yea, I made some banners with some scraps of the diecut paper and 2 rub-ons.

For this next one, I hacked the diecut paper into 3 pieces. I used the 2 outer sections and filled in the center with my photo and another scrap of pp. I edged the sections with strips of pp and border stickers. Used lots of pop dots on my title and the embellies (grouped in 3's around my photo). I love that button up top with all that texture!

Simple, simple. Love the Prima flowers ala blooming tree. My pleated paper draws the eye to this sweet photo of my Sassy with the bunny. I do this on a majority of my pages. It adds so much dimension. I added 2 more pink elements to balance out my dd's top. I love how this burst of color is so surprising with the blue/green color scheme.

The two items of note in this last one are the shamrock element in the lower right corner. I forget when I make up funky details, that I have to photograph them, as well. This shamrock is on popdots yet floats against the open circle cut through the base papers. It so doesn't photograph well. Also, I hate to throw away scraps (yep, I'm a hoarder), so I used the other piece from my curve that I used on layout #1. so the curve here in turn inspired all those gosh darn circles.

Misty's March Reveal

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be joining Simply Obsessed as an official Member of the AMAZING Design Team! Today is my very first reveal with the MAGNIFICENT March kit, "Lucky Me", featuring Little Yellow Bicycle...and WOW~WOW~WOW! This kit ROCKED my WORLD! It is SOOOOOO versatile and will cover a wide variety of topics...not just St. Patty's day!

In this layout " ..LUCKY...", I focused on the blue and green colors to create a baby layout. I did use that little crocheted clover that comes in the kit...isn't it just stinkin' adorable! I used a punch to make the tiny white flowers and my cricut to make the vines.

In "BLISS", I did a punched blue bonnet that I pieced together. I have been wanting to do this for a long time...and this kit finally gave me the inspiration! I used white and blue cardstock for the petals and inked the top with green to create the off colored top of the blue bonnet. I used my cricut for the leaves. For the butterfly, I trimmed and heated one of the clear shamrocks to get it to look like the butterfly...I then used dimensional paints to create the black body and outline the wings.

And last is a traditional "Good Luck" card.
